Please reach out to us at HeatDragonBoatClub@gmail.com if you have any questions we don't answer here!

  • How can I contact the HEAT Dragon Boat club?
If you are interested in paddling with us, submit your information using our Contact Us page and someone from our recruiting team will reach out.
  • I've never paddled in a dragon boat, can I still come to practice?
Absolutely! We all started as beginners at one point! The benefits of learning with the HEAT is the patience and quality of coaching from Pat & Liz, and the support from your teammates. The goal is to have you fall in love with paddling just as we have.
  • Do I need to live in the Villages to paddle for the HEAT?
No. While the majority of the paddlers live in the Villages, the HEAT team members are from other parts of Florida, and from all across the country. Many paddlers come to the HEAT because of 1) the second-to-none, professional training the team receives from Pat and Liz Bradley and 2) the opportunity to race internationally.
  • What is your practice schedule?
We practice Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:00am to 9:00am at Lake Miona Park, 10501 CR 115, Oxford, FL 34484. We warm-up beginning at 7:30am.
  • What do I need to bring to practice?
Clothing: Wear comfortable clothing that you don't mind getting wet. Shoes: Wear shoes that are stable but that you don't mind getting wet. PFDs (Personal Flotation Device): Beginners will be able to borrow life vests. Most paddlers get the 'belt' or 'waist' variety for less restricted movement. Seat pads and Paddles: Beginners will be able to borrow seat pads and paddles. Coaches will provide new paddlers with guidance on purchasing paddles. Water bottle: You work up a sweat paddling and it's important to stay hydrated! Water bottles are highly encouraged to bring on the boat during practices. Others: Hat/sunglasses/sunscreen.
  • I don't live in The Villages year round, can I still join?
Yes! We have several members who paddle and race with us part time.
